Tore Bråthen was appointed a board member in Hægland & Svanberg in January 2019.

Professor Bråthen is a professor of business law at the Department of Law and Governance at the BI Norwegian Business School. He is also adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tromsø. He was department head at the BI Norwegian Business School from 2005 till 2017 and has worked at both institutions of higher education since 1998. He worked at the University of Oslo from 1979 to 1998, first as a part-time research assistant and finally as an associate professor.

Professor Bråthen is the Norwegian editor at Nordisk Tidsskrift for Selskabsret (Nordic Journal of Company Law and editor for company law at Norsk Lovkommentar (Norwegian laws with commentaries). He chaired the legislative committee that prepared the Estate Agency Act until 2006 and chaired the legislative committee that proposed changes to the Limited Liabilities Companies Act in 2016.

Bråthen attained a cand. jur. (master’s degree in law) in 1985 and was awarded dr. juris. (PhD) in 1998 by the University of Oslo.
